2002-10-02 - 11:21 p.m. Today, I went grocery shopping with my mom and Grandma. Heard a lot about how today's society is going down the tubes (from gm), how Martha Stewart is being treated unfairly (!) (also gm), and how fighting with Grandma is fruitless (advice from mom). In the car ride, spent a lot of time watching out the window. Noticed how many closing/closed businesses there are. Wondered if Jersey's slagging ecomony is better/worse than the overall economy of the nation. Yes. My life is so exciting. Now, TV talk. Spoilers for 'College Kids' (tonight's 'West Wing'), 'Miss Stuckeyville' (tonight's 'Ed') and 'Heat' (last night's 'Smallville') * * * * * * * * * * * First of all, I'm giving Leo a gang name. The Blond Fox. Yes, I am an idiot. And, yes, Leo will be referred to as the Blond Fox for the remainder of this entry. But, first, I want to mention 'Smallville,' since I'm considering writing a post-ep for it. I mean, am I crazy, or is Lana better suited for Chloe? After all, she 'doesn't want Clark to come between them' and she and Clark have little to no chemistry. (This applies to Chloe as well. I don't know why, but Clark generally seems more interested in Lex. Whitney, even. And, I know that the reason Clark wasn't affected by the phermone lady's charms is because of his superpowers...but I'm thinking the *real* reason is that he's even gayer than Lex.) Really, though, 'Smallville' is almost a violently slashy show. After watching it, I feel like I've been punched in the stomach by a big gay fist. Not that I'm complaining...I'm just saying, I really think I'm writing some Chloe and Lana in the rain stuff from this episode. That is a good thing. From my point of view, anyway. Oh, and that wedding!angst!Edfic I was discussing? I posted it yesterday. And I've gotten a good review. Boo-yah. But, onto tonight's episode. Damn, I wanted to hug Ed through the whole thing. *sigh* All he wants is for Carol to love him. And, randomly, I really like Diane. Now that that's out of the way...onto 'The West Wing.' Also known as where the Blond Fox roams.... So, Jordan's back. I still don't like her. I'm still not sure why. I still say that the Blond Fox doesn't need a canonical love interest. The Blond Fox doesn't need to be tied down. The Blond Fox is his own man. He needs freedom, so fanfic writers can write him with Donna, Josh, Sam, Jed, Margaret, Toby, Margaret, etc. However, he was just adorable during his scenes with Jordan. Even though I don't like her, and never will most likely. And, while Jordan took over the show (okay, so I'm overstating it. I'm allowed to) Amy only got one scene. See? She's not evil. She felt bad about the Stackhouse thing. And she was wearing a cute t-shirt. And, also, Josh just walked away from Donna without a word so he could go see his (and my) girlfriend. Oh, that's going to cause a whole lot of Josh/Donna people to weep. Which I'd find funny even if I were still writing Josh/Donna. Because, dudes! It's a TV (possible many one day) couple. If they never sleep together/wax rhapsodic on how similar to siblings they are/go to each other's weddings to other people, *you* won't die. I mean, I'm obsessive (obviously) but just chill out, shippers. Chill out. And, anyway, Donna's better suited for the Blond Fox. He's a rebel, that Blond Fox. And, I loved seeing Aimee Man on the show. Ah! I love her. And, what was the deal with Josh and Toby getting an idea at the same time? If that isn't slash bait, I don't know what is. Basically, they are so in love that their minds are linked. It's like in 'Glitter' when Mariah Carey and Guy with Awful Noo Yawk Accent where writing the same song at the same time. And, no, I'm not comparing 'TWW' to 'Glitter.' I'm just saying that my love of bad movies is ruining my brain. Because, as soon as Toby showed Josh that paper I thought, "It's just like Glitter!" Stupid brain. Also loved Lily Tomlin's scenes. She's bugging me less and less. This is a good thing. Now, there are probably others things to say. But that's what comes to mind now. And, in other news, I read an interview with Mary-Louise Parker in the paper the other day. Learned more about 'Pipe Dream' (the movie with Martin Donovan). She filmed it while she was in 'Proof.' Also, she was all loving about New York. You think about it, with her love of New York, theater, and independent film, she's really like Kevin Spacey. (I will take this moment to point out that 'The Big Kahuna' was filmed while Kevin was doing 'The Iceman Cometh' on Broadway). And, maybe, that's part of the reason I love her. *sigh* But I digress. Mary-Louise was also kinda picking on 'Red Dragon,' since she only got to work with Norton (she didn't even get to meet most of the rest of the cast, which was the reason she did the flick) and her character 'didn't have an emotional arc.' Jesus! You're the protagonist's wife. Honey, you know I love you, but *I* could've told you you'd only be in scenes with Norton and that you'd have no emotional arc. Am still looking forward to the movie, though. Plans have been made since Monday. Will have to see it twice (my mom loves Anthony Hopkins, and only goes to the movies with me.) So, if the movie's good (which, I've said before, it must be. Because that cast! Boo-yah), this plan will greatly benefit me, my love of Ed, my love of Mary-Louise, my love of...okay, most of the cast. I can't keep listing people or my head will hurt. And, in other Mary-Louise related-ness (wow, I'm sick of this track, even) there was a little thing about reaction shots during the Emmy telecast in 'Entertainment Weekly.' And, when Stockard won, Janel and M-L looked *quite* disappointed. What's that about, man? All the boys were happy for John. Sheesh. I suppose this gives some stock to the 'women are competitive and unhappy when other women succeed,' theory (aka, Bill Maher's theory on the opposite sex), a take on female/female relations that has always bugged me. I suppose that's why I like to slash women characters who are ostensibly in love with the same man. (ie, Donna/Amy, Chloe/Lana, Liz/Tess). Because, yes, my reasons for writing fanfic is deeper than "I like them and they're pretty!" (Although I suppose that is a component. Especially when I write Donna/The Blond Fox.) But, really, dude. Why weren't they happy for Stockard? *shakes head* Honeys, I love you both, but you can't be snarky about Stockard. It's just wrong. So, bye for now. Oh! One last thing. I love the Blond Fox. Yeah. That was worth it.
