2002-07-24 - 2:34 a.m. Randomly, I will say that I've been thinking about this 'TIPS' program [aka 'Citizen Spies, 2002.'] and, the more I consider it, the stupider it seems. Is it just me, or does it make the Department of Justice look like it's being run by Tom Hanks's character from 'The 'Burbs'? However, to do my duty, I will rummage through the garbage of my neighbors. Sure, I haven't been 'selected,' but I'm sure my pariotism will be appreciated by all. Especially if the retired couple next door just threw out a copy of their great terrorist plot. Please note the sarcasm. I implore you! And, moving on... Big ass fic survey. Typos quite possible. It's late, man. Get off my back. And tell the monkey to cut it out, too. *cough* * then first fanfic you ever read?: Don't remember the title. It was 'Homicide,' Juliana/Tim. when?: sometime in 1997. I think. last fic you read before doing this survey?: 'Little Girl Late,' a piece of 'Smallville' femslash. when?: earlier tonight. first fanfic you ever wrote?: "After the Peach." 'Homicide.' Parody. when?: 1999. I was about to graduate high school, so sometime in June. last fic you finished?: 'Familiar and New,' a Leo-focused moment vingette. when?: Today. how many fandoms have you been involved in?: I've done a few one-shots in several fandoms, so I don't count that as 'involvement.' So, ones that I've lingered in for a while - six, I guess. [Ally, Boston Public, West Wing, Roswell, Alias, Homicide.] here and now how many different stories are you currently writing?: I have a lot of WIPs, really. But not all of them are 'currently being written,' persay. So. Erm. A lot. I worked on two of 'em tonight. in how many different fandoms?: 4 - [West Wing, Smallville, CSI, The Negoitator. What? Don't look at me like that.] will you finish them all?: Honestly, probably not. Some fics may not come together in the end. I am a realist. do you jump from fic to fic, or pick one and stick to it till it's written?: I'm a jumper. how many fandoms do you consider yourself interested in at the moment?: Seriously? About five or six, depending on my mood. how many of them would you say you're actually obsessed about?: One. And its initials are TWW. If you can't guess, I will be frightened by you. favourites and preferences favourite fandom?: The West Wing. least favorite fandom you've ever been involved in?: Boston Public. And just because much of it is not Guber friendly. I feel great sadness at the amount of GuberTort. number of authors who've made you cry with their stories?: In a positive way? Three. Many more have touched me emotionally - but I'm not a big crier when it comes to fic. Or movies. Anyway. most memorable line/paragraph you've ever read in a fic?: It was a section towards the end of Ellen M's 'Irreparable Things.' Which is one of my favorite 'West Wing' fics, for the record. So, really, the whole thing is memorable. favorite line/paragraph you've ever written?: Can I have two paragraphs? They are linked, after all... 'He's grown to need her, and he wonders if it's grown into a fixation. A new addiction for an old man. He wonders if he could tell her that, whisper into her ear, "I'm addicted to you." But it would sound wrong, he's sure. Maybe from a different man it would be sexy and innocent. From him, though, with his history, he's sure it would be akin to saying, "You could be the next thing that ruins my life."' from 'Porcelain.' I'm not sure it's the best, but I just love the way it sounds. And, also, this section is the only reason the fic exists. The paragraphs attacked my brain and said, "Write an angsty piece so we can have a home!" True story. are you an OTP person or do you just 'mix and match'?: 'mix and match.' Oh, yes. do the stories you read/write and your involvement in fandom change the perception of the show (FPFic) / the people (PRFic) in question?: Sometimes. if yes, how so?: slash has changed my perception of the relationships to a degree. Like, sometimes, when Josh and Sam are talking, I'll think, "C'mon, you know you love each other." But, not all the time. And reading stories focused on secondary characters [ie, Bonnie or Margaret] have made me more interested in their on-screen time. writing rituals best time: Late at night. got a specific playlist?: Not really. I have an eclectic music taste, so I write to a wide array of stuff. But, Leonard Cohen is *great* for the Leo angst. Hope Sandoval is good for angst and smut. At times, Sarah McLachlan is condusive to femslash. prose easier than dialogue?: Depends. Usually, though, I'd say yes. enjoy writing sex scenes?: I'll admit it - yes. most troublesome words: I have [almost] misused the word 'nonplussed' about a million times. I can't seem to remember that it means 'perplexed.' Wait. Is that what it means? Damn. Also, having to think of various for 'said.' Which can be particularly vexing in a multi-character dialogue heavy piece. do you use stickmen?: No. favourite character pov right now: When it comes to first, second or third, I'd say third. But I'm developing a strange love for second. As for what character I love to write - Donna. Or Leo. Or Amy. But, mostly, Donna. And that, folks, it all. Ye-es.
